Introduction
Is cultural fusion intrusive? The world, acting as a melting pot, preserve local culture by adapting. As a Shanghai native, occupation of fast food, as well as fake Chinese food, that turns many people away from classic breakfast is woeful. I deplored deprivation and non-preservation of local culture. But is culture fusion necessarily bad? Food that adapts to the taste of dwellers and time in that place makes local culture easier to be known and loved by foreigners and youngsters. The best way to preserve tradition is not just force people to follow the former style, but to keep pace with the age.
Food in each pair resembles each other with similar appearance but different taste and origins. Likewise, the world consists people with a variety of characteristics and culture background but are meanwhile influencing by others in harmony. How completely different foods resembled in shape symbolizes the coexistence of individuality and collectivity in every community. With the use of window, the boundaries of different culture are blurred – stained glass window pairs with washed-out-colored Shanghai breakfast and wooden ones pairs with vivid-colored Western food. Every element of these paintings is a call for accepting influence from foreign countries while preserving local history
